IRISH INK TATTOO STUDIO

This is probably the most known recommended item to heal a tattoo. A&D consists of petroleum, lanolin, cod liver oil, (which is why it has it name becuase it had vitamin A and D). It also has artificial fragrance and paraffin wax.
Lanolin is derived from sheep wool wax, lanolin allergy is thought to be caused by the presence of wool wax alcohols. Lanoilin is considered highly allergic to alot of individuals becuase of the bad refining of this specific wool wax .Some lanolin can be tainted with DDT, dieldrin, lindane, or other toxic pesticides. It's possible for these carcinogens to make their way into our skincare products.
Most commercially made lotions contain petroleum or mineral oil as thier main ingredients. This is not a good ingredient for the initial healing of a tattoo, next they almost all have some form of alcohols in them along with preservatives.

You should NEVER use Neosporin or any other form of triple antibiotic ointment on a new tattoo. In order for a tattoo to heal properly it MUST heal naturally, from the inside out. Triple antibiotic ointments cause the tattoo to heal from the outside in causing an adverse reaction to the tattoo
Vaseline is petroleum jelly. Petroleum carries an R45 risk, which means it may cause cancer It protects the skin but also restricts the pores of the skin from letting the toxins and actual moisture out. In turn trapping any bacteria and infection that is under this layer of petroleum. Mineral oil is just liquid petroleum.
Aquaphor's main ingredient is petroleum followed by mineral oil, and alcohols. Aquaphor is a skin protectant but like petroleum it restricts the pores and can trap infection and bacteria under the layer of aquaphor.
This is what will happen if you follow the advice of a tattoo artist that tells you to leave it alone and dont put anything on it. Your tattoo will dry out and scab up. The scab will peel off and the color will come off. Leaving a blown out nasty tattoo.
More immediately alarming perhaps is the fact that there are synthetic preservatives used in cosmetics which actually release small amounts of formaldehyde which is not only an irritant and skin sensitizer, but is cancer-causing and damaging to the nervous system. Because these agents are present in topical cosmetics we apply and then leave on our skin (such as moisturisers), this means that they have a long time to penetrate the skin and migrate into the blood stream. Recent research has also indicated that these chemicals damage cell-processing properties in ways that could potentially lead to skin cancer. These include the line of parabens, including methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, isoparaben, and butylparaben .
